The Dangote Group has categorically refuted reports circulating on social media and in some online platforms that linked one of its trucks to a recent fatal road accident in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
In a statement, the conglomerate clarified that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident, with Plate No. JJJ 365 XB, does not belong to the Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.
Verified vehicle registration details confirm the truck is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no affiliation to Dangote.
The company further stated that the vehicle was not conveying any Dangote products but was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks bearing various brand names.
Dangote Industries maintains a strict fleet management policy, emphasising that all its genuine trucks carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers for easy identification, and are operated by trained personnel under rigorous safety and compliance standards.
While extending its deepest sympathies to all those affected by the tragedy, Dangote urged the public and media to verify information meticulously before attributing ownership or involvement to the Group.
The company also advised media organisations to refrain from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in connection with incidents unrelated to its operations, reiterating its unwavering commitment to road safety and corporate responsibility.
