One of the branches of United Bank for Africa (UBA) in Lagos State, housed in the iconic Afriland Towers, was engulfed by fire on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
Although there were no reports of casualties at the time of this report, the Lagos fire service was still evacuating individuals trapped inside the building.
Videos that went viral showed some UBA staff members jumping out of the high-rise building's windows to escape the heavy fire.
This incident occurred just a few months after Nigerian prophet Primate Elijah Ayodele had specifically warned the bank to be careful about fire incidents in its branches.
Primate Ayodele had called on the bank to be prayerful against a fire outbreak, stating, “Let us pray that UBA doesn’t see a fire outbreak, UBA, Yes.”
The incident has undoubtedly fulfilled Primate Ayodele's prophecy, but more importantly, it highlights how people often ignore the warnings of God's servants, sometimes at a heavy cost.
When the prophet issued his warning in July, it wasn't a ploy for attention or fame, as he was already well-known.
His intention was to warn them about an impending danger that could cost lives.
As an institution with numerous branches and a lot at stake, one would have expected them to implement preventive measures, but they clearly did not, leading to this unfortunate incident.
This serves as a call to all who have been warned by Primate Ayodele and other credible prophets to take these warnings seriously.
Not all prophets are fake, and not all are seeking money. Some, like Primate Ayodele, are genuinely called by God, and it would be a disservice to yourself to ignore their warnings.
