‘We Voted for You, Rescue Us’, Ikorodu Flood Victims Cry Out to Sanwo-Olu

Following a torrential downpour, residents of the Oko-ope community in Ikorodu have made an emotional appeal to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for urgent assistance after massive flooding displaced scores of families and destroyed property.

The flood, which followed heavy rainfall on Monday, submerged homes and streets, leaving many residents stranded.

A viral video circulating online shows the dire conditions, with some residents wading through chest-deep waters while others recount their losses.

One unidentified woman whose voice was clearly heard in the viral video said, “I have lost everything. The only thing I have left is the clothes I am wearing.”

She added that while some people had been rescued by relatives, many others remained trapped.

Appealing directly to the governor, she said, “We call on Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to come to our rescue. We voted for you, please don’t abandon us.”
