The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away at the age of 90.
The revered monarch died in the early hours of Monday, during ongoing celebrations marking his 90th birthday and first coronation anniversary.
Oba Olakulehin, who succeeded the late Oba Lekan Balogun, reportedly died quietly, though official confirmation is still awaited from the Oyo State Government.
It was learnt that a source within the Olubadan-In-Council confirmed the news, stating, “We received the message that the paramount ruler passed away this morning. He has joined his forefathers.”
Another palace source, The News Accelerator Network gathered, disclosed that Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Otun Olubadan and a former governor of Oyo State, is next in line to ascend the throne.
However, he is currently out of the country and is expected to return soon.
“He must have been briefed already,” the source was said to have added.
