The Federal High Court has announced the passing of its former Chief Judge, Justice Daniel Dantsoho Abutu, who died on June 3, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 79.
Born on March 15, 1946, in Kogi State, Justice Abutu was renowned for his unwavering commitment to justice and his notable contributions to Nigeria’s judiciary.
In a statement on Thursday, Chief Registrar Sulaiman Amida Hassan described Abutu’s tenure as one that left an enduring legacy in the legal system.
“The Court and the Nation have lost a distinguished jurist,” the statement read.
The judiciary expressed deep sorrow over his passing and offered condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
