Uyo Welcomes Over 1,000 Delegates as NPRW 2025 Kicks Off with Flair

The city of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has come alive as more than 1,000 delegates converge for the 2025 edition of the Nigeria Public Relations Week (NPRW), which officially kicked off today, Monday, May 19.

Organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), this year’s event promises five days of high-level discourse, cultural showcases, and professional networking under the theme of advancing public relations in a rapidly changing world.

The opening day features a unique Public Relations Stakeholders’ Roundtable with Traditional Rulers, followed by an Undergraduate Forum aimed at mentoring future PR professionals.

A golf tournament and a lively Welcome Cocktail and Manifesto Night round out the day’s engagements.

On Tuesday, the main plenary and breakout sessions begin, with renowned tax expert, Prof. Taiwo Oyedele, delivering the keynote address.

Delegates will also witness the investiture of the Akwa Ibom State Governor as a Patron of NIPR, followed by “Ndia Ibom”, a food and drink festival celebrating local cuisine.

The week continues with thematic sessions on tech, governance, health, and marketing, and features special events like the Ethnik Fashion Nite and a guided tour of Akwa Ibom.

Notable speakers include Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, Mr Yakubu Lamai, Dr Omoniyi Ibietan, and Maryam Sanusi, among other PR leaders.

Chairman of the NPRW 2025 National Planning Committee, Mr Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, described the event as “a convergence of ideas, people, and opportunities,” adding that it reflects “the essence and future of PR in Nigeria.”
