Oba Akanni Musa Joins Epe Council of Obas, Appoints Chiefs to Strengthen Igbooye’s Heritage


In a momentous step for traditional leadership in Lagos State, the Orijeru of Igbooye Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa, has been officially inducted into the Epe Council of Obas and Chiefs. 

The formal investiture was held during the Council’s general meeting at the Epe Local Government Secretariat.

The event marked exactly one year since Prince AbdulRasaq Akanni Musa was first presented to the Council, initiating the traditional endorsement process that culminated in his recognition and installation as monarch by the Lagos State Government.

Presiding over the meeting was the Chairman of the Council and Oloja of Epe, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun. 

He warmly welcomed Oba Akanni Musa into the fold, offering prayers for wisdom and success as he leads the people of Igbooye Kingdom.

To celebrate his induction, Oba Akanni Musa hosted a symbolic reception at the Orijeru Palace in Igbooye. 

Present at the gathering were key community stakeholders, including members of the Igbooye Council of Baales.

During the reception, the monarch made a major announcement, unveiling a newly appointed team of traditional chiefs who will support the kingdom’s governance and uphold its cultural heritage.

The appointed chiefs include Chief AbdulBariu Olugbenga Quadri as Olisa; Chief Moruff Oluwadare Salami as Egbo; Chief Rufus Adedipe as Aare; Chief Yinka Oguntimehin as Balogun; and Chief Rasaq Sanni as Otun. 

Also appointed were Chief Oluranti Adebanjo as Eleku; Chief Adegbenro Otunnowo as Oluti; Chief (Mrs) Silifatu Amadasun as Iyalode; and Mrs Olusola Odusanya-Omotoso as Erelu.

Oba Akanni Musa explained that the appointments were in accordance with the traditions and administrative structures of the kingdom. 

He noted that all ruling houses and quarters were duly represented to ensure inclusivity and fairness.

He also disclosed plans to confer honorary chieftaincy titles on reputable individuals, both indigenes and non-indigenes, who demonstrate exceptional moral standing and service to the community.

“This occasion ushers in a renewed era of unity, cultural preservation, and responsible leadership,” Oba Akanni Musa said, urging all citizens to contribute to the kingdom’s growth and legacy.
