In a video dated November 2024, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, predicted that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), would face significant challenges in 2025.
Primate Ayodele made this revelation in a video, stating that if the party failed to resolve the impending internal crisis, 2025 would see a wave of defections.
Defections are typically associated with opposition parties, and given that President Tinubu has been in office for less than two years, the idea of APC members defecting seemed unlikely.
However, Primate Ayodele prophesied that such events would unfold.
These were his words:
“APC will have their crisis in 2025. A lot of issues will arise against APC, and if the crisis isn’t managed well, some people will defect from the party. The APC must be careful to avoid internal conflicts over unexpected matters.”
Since Primate Ayodele’s prophecy, several developments within the APC have threatened the party’s unity.
Some members have openly criticized President Tinubu’s policies, particularly his appointments, which have included members of opposition parties while sidelining loyal party members.
One of the most vocal critics of the Tinubu administration is former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
He was initially nominated as a minister but was controversially screened out by the Senate for ‘security reasons,’ an outcome that embarrassed him.
In a recent interview, El-Rufai revealed that it was not the National Assembly that blocked his appointment, but rather President Tinubu himself, despite an earlier agreement that he would be appointed if he supported Tinubu’s election bid.
The tipping point came last week when El-Rufai officially resigned from the APC and defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In his resignation letter, he expressed his grievances against the party and called on opposition members to unite.
Furthermore, following El-Rufai’s defection, unconfirmed reports suggest that other key APC figures, including Kayode Fayemi, Abubakar Malami, Rauf Aregbesola, and several others, are considering leaving the party along with their political structures, signalling a potential mass exodus.
Given Primate Ayodele’s prophecy and the unfolding events within the APC, can it be said that his predictions are coming to pass?
