Court Stalls EFCC’s Arraignment of Eezee Tee Amid Ongoing Procedures

In a dramatic turn of events, a Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, led by Justice Alexander Owoeye, has temporarily halted the arraignment of popular music figure Ezekiel Onyedikachi, widely known as Eezee Tee.

The pause comes as the court grapples with an administrative procedure that remains incomplete.

The decision to delay the proceedings arose during a recent hearing where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed four charges against Onyedikachi, alleging fraudulent conversion of funds.

In contrast to the previous hearing, where he was notably absent, Onyedikachi was present in court this time, flanked by eminent legal representatives, Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) Chikaosolu Ojukwu and Dr Monday Ubani.

On the opposing side, the EFCC was represented by Bilikisu Buhari.

As counsels took their places, Justice Owoeye addressed the room, clarifying that the court could not move forward with the case due to ongoing administrative matters.

“There is an administrative procedure in progress, and until it reaches completion, I cannot make any ruling,” the judge remarked, underscoring the complexities at play.

Adding to the tension, the judge rejected a request from Mr Ojukwu, Onyedikachi’s lawyer, to maintain the current state of affairs while the administrative issues are resolved.

With the administrative process still underway, the suspense continues, as the judge has adjourned the case until May 14, 2024, when the next phase of proceedings is set to unfold.
