GTI Targets Transformation, Aims to Make Nigerian League Africa's Best

GTI Asset Management, the strategic partner of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), has expressed its ambition to elevate the Nigerian league to the pinnacle of African football.

The announcement was made by the company's Executive Director, Mr Nelson Ine, during a media parley in Lagos.

Highlighting the strides made since GTI’s partnership with the NPFL began three years ago, Ine stated, “We've achieved stability in the league, and the competitive balance has improved significantly. Our goal is to make it the best league in Africa.”

According to Ine, transitioning the NPFL to private ownership and management is critical to aligning the league with international best practices.

“The collaboration has already enhanced the league’s competitive structure and overall football experience, making it more attractive to investors, sponsors, and fans.

“GTI is focused on adopting global standards to expand revenue streams, improve infrastructure, and boost the quality of the game.

“The success of this project isn’t solely dependent on GTI but requires the collective effort of all stakeholders,” Ine emphasized.

He called on Nigerians to shift their perception of the domestic league, urging citizens to invest in its growth.

Drawing a comparison to the English Premier League's transformation over the last three decades, he said, “Imagine if people had invested in the EPL 32 years ago. That’s the opportunity we’re creating for Nigerians with the TNFF.”

Looking ahead, GTI and the NPFL plan to address areas such as improving broadcast quality, enhancing communication channels, creating engaging content, and upgrading facilities.

While acknowledging the challenges, Ine expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential to drive sustained growth and development in Nigerian football.

“We’re committed to continuous improvement,” he said.

“With dedication and collaboration, we believe Nigerian football will achieve remarkable milestones,” Ine added.
