Ghana’s outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced visa-free entry for all African passport holders, effective January 1, 2025. The decision was revealed during his final state of the nation address on Friday as he prepares to step down on January 6 after serving two terms.
“This is the logical next step to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the workings of the largest trading bloc in the world,” Akufo-Addo stated in parliament.
The move aligns with Ghana’s commitment to fostering continental economic integration and strengthening intra-African ties. The visa-free policy is expected to enhance trade, tourism, and unity across Africa, reinforcing the AfCFTA's objectives.
