MRS Slashes Petrol Price to N935/Litre Nationwide, Earns Public Praise

As Nigerians Hail Dangote-MRS Partnership for Affordable, Eco-Friendly Fuel

In a significant move to alleviate the financial burden on Nigerians, MRS Oil Nigeria Plc has reduced the pump price of petrol to N935 per litre at all its retail outlets nationwide.

The price adjustment follows a recent collaboration between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil and Gas, which led to a reduction in the ex-depot price from N970 to N899.50 per litre.

The initiative was announced by Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, and has already been enforced by MRS Oil Nigeria Plc, with mechanisms in place to ensure compliance.

The company urges customers to report any retail station failing to adhere to the new pricing via its whistleblowing channels.

“Petrol is now being sold at N935 at MRS Filling Stations nationwide. If you find any station not following this price, please report it.

“Call 08009447853 or email NG-FMKPMGWHISTLEBLOWING@NG.KPMG.COM,” the company stated.

MRS Oil highlighted the eco-friendly nature of its fuel products and called on other petrol station operators to embrace the initiative, stressing the importance of enhancing Nigeria’s supply chain and ensuring high-quality fuel availability.

Nationwide Compliance Brings Festive Cheer

A survey conducted across the country confirmed that the price reduction has been implemented at all MRS outlets.

In Lagos, queues of grateful customers were observed at MRS filling stations, where many expressed their appreciation for the price cut and the support of an indigenous refinery.

Mrs Ibukun Phillips, a commuter in Lagos, lauded the price reduction, calling it “a victory for Nigeria.”

She added, “Beyond the reduction, we are buying standard, eco-friendly petrol. My husband and I have decided to stick with MRS for the quality and to support our economy.”

Commercial bus driver Adio Ajibade echoed similar sentiments, saying, “The reduction is a great relief, especially during this festive period.

“It will lower transportation costs and benefit Nigerians. God bless Alhaji Aliko Dangote.”

Experts Applaud the Partnership

Public affairs analyst Dr Tunde Akanni commended the partnership between Dangote Petroleum Refinery and MRS Oil, describing it as a “game-changer” for Nigeria’s downstream sector.

“This collaboration addresses affordability, product quality, and environmental sustainability.

“It reduces the financial strain on Nigerians while promoting eco-friendly practices, which benefits the economy and public health,” Dr Akanni remarked.

The initiative underscores the potential of local partnerships in driving sustainable economic growth and improving the quality of life for Nigerians, especially during the festive season.
