16 Terrorizing Abuja, Others Paraded

No fewer than sixteen suspects terrorizing Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and other parts of the country, were on Saturday, January 20, paraded by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

It would be recalled that two of the suspects, Idris Isiaku and Dahiru Salihu, were arrested by the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), after the launching of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, to wipe out terrorists in the FCT.

The suspects who revealed that they had been in Bwari and working as farmers and security guards, stated that they used the opportunity as security guards to monitor the activities of residents, especially the rich ones, and report to their colleagues in the bush before carrying out the kidnapping, adding that they get paid after such operations.

In parading the suspects in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi explained that the arrest of the suspects comes in response to the pressing need for enhanced security measures in the nation’s capital.

It would be recalled that since last year, several cases of kidnapping and killings have been recorded in the FCT, especially in the Bwari community.

However, the FPRO explained that the launch of the SIS by the IGP at the Force Headquarters comprising highly trained personnel equipped with advanced technology and resources of the force also made it possible for the police to arrest the suspect in their various hideouts.

ACP Adejobi maintained that all kinds and valuables were recovered during the operations, adding that members of the public, especially landlords and caretakers should be wary of whom they employ as security guards.

The suspected notorious Abuja kidnapper, one Chinaza Phillip who was handed over to the FCT Police Command on Friday following his arrest by police operatives of the Kaduna State Police Command on Thursday was also paraded on a stretcher.
