Same-Sex Marriage: ‘The Pope is satanic, should be crucified, kept in confinement’ — Primate Ayodele

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has described Pope Francis as a satanic cleric who should be crucified and kept confined forever.

Speaking while fielding questions from journalists during the unveiling of his 2024 prophesies at his church in Lagos on Friday, December 22, 2023, Primate Ayodele, who expressed shock that the Catholic helmsman could give his blessings to same-sex marriage, referred to the Bible version which states that ‘woe unto a man that married a man’.

It would be recalled that Pope Francis had formally permitted Catholic priests to bless same-sex unions.

A blessing in the Catholic Church is a prayer or plea, usually handed down by a minister, requesting God to look favourably on the person(s) being blessed.

But the Vatican in a declaration explained that “such blessings should not be conducted with any church rites that offer the impression of a marriage.”

The declaration added that “the doctrine regarding marriage does not change, and the blessing does not signify approval of the union” and that “only sexual relations between a man and a woman in the context of marriage are considered lawful.”

But despite the caveat, the declaration shows a significant shift in Vatican doctrine.

Specifically, in 2021, the Vatican made a decree that the Catholic Church would not bless gay marriages because God “cannot bless sin.”

However, in a twist, Pope Francis had hinted that he would be open to having the Catholic Church bless same-sex unions.

The Pope had said, that “pastoral charity” requires patience and understanding. Priests should not become judges who only deny, reject and exclude.

“A blessing requested is a plea for God’s help to live a better life, even in situations that are not morally acceptable.”

Speaking further, Primate Ayodele queried the relationships among Christian leaders in Nigeria.

While revealing that by next year February, he would build a mosque and hand the same over to the Sultan of Sokoto for administration, the INRI leader expressed sadness that the relationship between Christian leaders is so bad. 

In his words: “Most of these big pastors you see are arrogant, and that is why I don’t bother about them.

“I called Bishop Oyedepo of Winners Chapel 50 times, and he never picked up my calls. I even wrote a letter to him, and he never replied. That was in 2020.

“However, if I call the Sultan of Sokoto, today, he would pick up my call, even if he misses it, he would call me back.”

Primate Ayodele equally stated that he is the most media-friendly and accessible Prophet in Nigeria.

“Go and present awards or try to visit the likes of Pastor Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God or Bishop Oyedepo of Faith Tabernacle, you would be tagged as a thief and won’t be attended to.
