Following the failure of the military junta in the Niger Republic to hand over power to the democratically elected President, Mohammed Bazoum, the African Union (AU) on Tuesday announced the suspension of the country (Niger) from its fold.
The AU's decision is contained in a communiqué which further stated that the decision would be sustained until the effective restoration of constitutional order.
