Electricity Supply To Niger Stopped Over Coup

Electricity supply to the Niger Republic has been cut off by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The action came consequent upon the imposition of sanctions on Niger after coupists ousted the country’s President, Mohammed Bazoum, by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

It is recalled that Nigeria has been supplying power to Niger as it depends on Nigeria for 70 per cent of its power, buying it from the Nigerian company Mainstream.
