Suspended Aide To Ogun Governor Sent To Prison

A United States district court on Tuesday jailed a suspended aide to the Governor of Ogun State.

The former aide, Abidemi Rufai, was specifically jailed for five years over his involvement in fraud.

It would be recalled that Rufai had pleaded guilty to the charges in May, admitting to having defrauded 12 US agencies of $600,000.

According to a statement issued by the US Department of Justice that announced the sentencing of Rufai, and which quoted the trial judge, Benjamin H. Settle, “The motivation was greed, unrestrained greed, and a callousness towards those who have suffered.”
