Barring any last-minute change of decision, the Lekki Residents Association (LERA) will be embarking on a peaceful protest to question the planned moves of the Lagos State government to take over the PAVILION by force.
This position was made public through a statement issued by the Association and made available to the media on Wednesday.
The statement captioned ‘A CALL FOR PEACEFUL PROTEST! PEACEFUL PROTEST., read: “Get up, stand up, don’t give up the fight.
“Silence becomes cowardice when occasion demands speaking out the whole truth and acting accordingly.
“At the well-attended meeting of LERA Exco with zonal chairpersons and stakeholders held at the Pavilion on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, it was resolved among others that residents should prepare for a peaceful protest as the Lagos State Government is planning to take over the PAVILION by force.
“Zonal chairpersons are to gather residents in their zones and make a case for why a protest action is necessary and designate an effective mode of leadership or agree to opt for a more open, nonhierarchical structure.
“This is the only recreational ground for over 10,000 households and over 1 million residents in Lekki Phase 1.
“Legal action would also be explored to secure justice for LERA.”
