Following the incessant collapse of buildings in Lagos State, the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Dr Idris Salako, on Monday resigned his appointment.
It was gathered that the Commissioner has been under tension in terms of building collapse in the State.
Specifically, while he held sway, a 21-storey building in Ikoyi collapsed last year, killing about 50 people, with several others also caved in.
The 7-storey collapsed building on Sunday, which killed two people, was the most recent in the line of such incidents.
Making known the governor’s acceptance of the resignation letter, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, in a statement on Monday said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has accepted the resignation of Dr Idris Salako.
According to Omotoso, “This is a prelude to the restructuring of the Ministry and its agencies. Governor Sanwo-Olu thanks the Commissioner for his services to the State and wishes him success in his future endeavours.
”The Governor warns all players in the sector to respect the law or face the consequences of any indiscretion, no matter who the perpetrators are.”
