The People’s Alternative Political Movement, TPAP-M, has announced the commencement of her Campaign For Socialist Transformation of Nigeria (CASTNIGERIA: #CASTNaija) to engage actively with the election campaigns process, the 2023 General Elections, and build up momentum to deepen popular resistance to current hardships and the more intensified hardships that will be unleashed in the aftermath of the general elections.
This development was made public in a statement dated July 1, 2022, and jointly signed by Professor Omotoye Olorode, and Comrade Jaye Gaskia.
According to the statement, TPAP-M Is a mass political movement committed to the emergence of a mass workers party and the socialist transformation of Nigeria.
It said, “As part of her program of actively organising and mobilising the mass of the working people and toiling masses of Nigeria towards achieving their self-emancipation, the movement is announcing the commencement of her Campaign For Socialist Transformation of Nigeria (CASTNIGERIA: #CASTNaija) to engage actively with the election campaigns process, the 2023 General Elections, and build up momentum to deepen popular resistance to current hardships and the more intensified hardships that will be unleashed in the aftermath of the general elections.
“Whoever wins the general elections, it is obvious the Nigeria’s ruling class in its entirety has run out of ideas, and will only recycle the same neoliberal remedies, albeit with potentially slightly different variations. Regardless, the outcome will be the same for the popular masses.
“This is why we call on the masses of the working people and toiling masses to actively support and participate in our campaign for national rebirth, and social emancipation.
“We also urge Nigerians – the working people and toiling masses who are angry enough about our current situation and feel strongly about doing something drastic, radical and revolutionary about it, to not only join the campaign, but also register to volunteer as Organisers and Mobilisers for the campaign, and become members of our movement (TPAP-M).
“In the course of the next few days and weeks, we shall be constituting and announcing the membership of our Campaign organising and mobilisation committee, the research and popular education committee, as well as the conventional and social media committee for the campaign for the socialist transformation of Nigeria.
“Over the next few months of the general elections campaign, we shall robustly engage with, and offer a critique of the policy proposals and electoral programs of the various political parties and their candidates, with a view to exposing the underlying myths and fallacies of theirproposals, while also explaining why the lies and falsehoods being offered as policy proposals and governance agenda and programs will only deepen the woes, miseries and hardships of the people, rather than alleviate the sufferings of our people.
“Only a program for socialist transformation can adequately and comprehensively address the myriad of systemic and existential challenges confronting our country and people. Alas, however, the crooked nature of the political process put in place by this incompetent ruling class has excluded socialist parties, socialist candidates, and a workers’ program for a workers’ government and workers’ power from the ballot and the election process.
“We urge our people, members of the working class, working people and toiling masses to work with us to ensure that this is the last time the worker’s alternative and a program for the socialist transformation of Nigeria will be excluded from the election process of our country.
“We urge our people to be vigilant, and to be prepared for the coming battles that will be necessary to challenge the deepening of our burdens that the ruling class – both the current and any incoming regime will impose on us all.”
