A Nigerian serving senator, Ifeanyi Ubah will be arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria, over false declaration of Asset in respect of N135 billion debt.
The senator is expected to be arraigned on October 6, 2022, by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON.
It would be recalled that Ubah ought to have been arraigned last Tuesday, but that did not come to be due to the absence of the judge.
Prior to this time, and specifically last month, the judge had granted an order mandating AMCON’s lawyer, Babatunde Lawal, to either paste the charge filed against Ifeanyi Patrick Uba and his company, Capital Oil and Gas Industries at his residence or to serve him the charge through the Clerk of the National Assembly.
The directive of the court came consequent upon an application filed and argued by Babatunde Lawal that, it has been very difficult to personally serve Ifeanyi Patrick Uba a copy of the charge, hemce, the need to obtain the order of the court to serve the defendant a copy of the charge, either, by pasting it at his residence with the assistance of the Nigerian Police Force, or serve him through the Clerk of the National Assembly.
In granting the request, Justice Nicholas Oweibo declared that the defendant can be served either by pasting the charge at his residence or through the clerk of the National Assembly.
