Money laundering: Court jails former minister, Sarah Ochekpe, others

As a result of her involvement in money laundering, a former Minister of Water Resources, Sarah Ochekpe, was on Tuesday sentenced to three months imprisonment.

She was sentenced by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja alongside a former chairman of the People Democratic Party in Plateau State, Raymond Dabo, and the Plateau State Coordinator of Jonathan Campaign Organization, Leo-Sunday Jitong.

The jailed convicts had been standing trial since 2018 in a case of money laundering and conspiracy brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) amounting to over N450 million.

It would be recalled that Ochekpe served as Minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan.
