The Special Counsel to the Governor of Oyo State, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, has described the death of Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, as a huge loss to the people of Ibadan and Oyo State in general.
The late Olubadan died on Sunday at the age of 93.
Ayorinde in a statement said the late Olubadan was an indefatigable unifier and bridge-builder who did his utmost best as a traditional ruler to strengthen the bonds that bind all Nigerians together in the interest of national peace, harmony and progress.
Ayorinde in his condolence message explained that the Monarch was a man of peace who showed no discrimination either ethnically or religiously.
He noted that Oyo State and Nigeria have lost one of the finest Monarch whose contributions to the peaceful co-existence of his subjects and unity among Nigerians cannot be forgotten in years to come.
The former Pro-Chancellor, Chairman Governing Council, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State revealed that the late Olubadan spent meritorious years on the throne, leading to significant development in Ibadan and its environs.
Ayorinde commiserated with the family of the late Monarch, adding that his death calls for sober reflection, not only to the people of Ibadan but perhaps the nation at large.
According to the SAN, the late Olubadan was a bridge builder who cut across the ethnic, cultural and religious divide to promote peace and unity, not only within his domain but Oyo state at large.”
The senior lawyer maintained that he was personally touched by the death of the Olubadan, whom he said was a father to all.
He prayed to the Almighty God to find a peaceful resting place for the soul of the late Olubadan.
