Nigeria’s EV Future: Ridesmash Launches Car Registration for Drivers, Individuals

Ridesmash has announced the official commencement of Electric Vehicle (EV) car registration for individuals and hire-purchase drivers in Abuja and Lagos, beginning April 1, 2026.

The initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable urban mobility in Nigeria, offering cost‑effective and eco‑friendly alternatives to traditional fuel‑powered vehicles.

Flexible Ownership Options

Co‑founder Eigbefoh Paul Smith revealed that the program is designed to democratise access to clean energy transportation while empowering drivers.

Two pathways are available:

Outright Purchase: Immediate ownership for individuals seeking modern mobility solutions.

Drive‑to‑Own (Hire Purchase Plan): A flexible 24‑month repayment scheme enabling drivers to earn while gradually owning their EVs.

Why It Matters

With rising fuel costs and growing demand for efficient transport systems, Ridesmash is positioning itself as a leader in:

Sustainable mobility  — Driver empowerment  — Cost‑efficient transportation

Electric vehicles promise reduced fuel dependency, lower maintenance costs, and higher profitability for drivers in the long run.

Call to Action

Residents of Abuja and Lagos are encouraged to apply early to secure their place in Nigeria’s evolving ride‑sharing ecosystem

“The future of transportation in Nigeria is electric. This initiative is about creating access, ownership, and opportunity for everyone,” said Eigbefoh Paul Smith.

Ridesmash’s EV registration program is not just a service launch, it represents a movement toward smarter, cleaner, and more inclusive mobility across Nigeria.
