Ending Period Poverty: Eigbefoh Paul Smith to Distribute 2,000 Sanitary Pads to Abuja Schoolgirls

ABUJA — In a decisive move to champion girl-child welfare and break the barriers of period poverty, Eigbefoh Paul Smith, the founder of PS Initiatives, has announced a massive outreach program to donate 2,000 sanitary pads to schoolgirls across the Federal Capital Territory.

The initiative, set to roll out next month, targets underserved communities where the high cost of menstrual products often forces young girls to choose between their education and their dignity.

By providing these essential supplies, Smith aims to drastically reduce school absenteeism and restore confidence in the classroom.

Action Over Words: Supporting the Girl Child

For many girls in Nigeria, a natural monthly cycle can become a source of shame or a reason to miss classes. PS Initiatives is stepping into this gap, viewing menstrual health as a fundamental pillar of educational success.

“No girl should miss school or feel ashamed because of something natural. This initiative is about dignity, confidence, and giving the girl child the support she deserves to thrive,” says Eigbefoh Paul Smith.

A Holistic Approach to Health

The outreach isn't just about distribution; it's about education. The program will feature distribution of 2,000 high-quality pads for girls in selected Abuja schools, practical sessions on personal care and adolescent health, and encouraging self-confidence and academic persistence despite social challenges.

Local educators and community leaders praised the move, noting that such grassroots interventions are vital for achieving long-term gender equality and ensuring that no student is left behind due to biological factors.
