LAGOS, NIGERIA — Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to track down and arrest a businessman, Rolland Oluwasegun Elusoji, wherever he may be found.
The order, contained in a “Form E” warrant of arrest signed by the judge on February 18, 2026, follows the defendant's repeated failure to appear in court for his trial.
Elusoji, alongside co-defendants Oladejo Funmilayo Grace and Abiola Oluwasegun (who remains at large), is facing a multi-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences, and money laundering.
According to the Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi, the trio allegedly defrauded one Otunba Seye Famojuro of a staggering ₦1,207,000,000 (One Billion, Two Hundred and Seven Million Naira).
The funds were purportedly intended for the purchase of high-end real estate and a luxury 2024 model Mercedes-Benz GLE 63S.
Evading Justice
Despite the charges (FHC/L/583c/’25) being served on the defendant via his personal email and his legal counsel following a court order in November 2025, Elusoji has consistently avoided appearing for his plea.
The prosecution, led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Achi Caleb, moved for the arrest warrant after the defendant failed to show up for his scheduled trial on February 18.
Legal Implications
The amended charges against the businessman are severe, spanning two major financial crime frameworks. They are Advance Fee Fraud, contrary to Section 8(1) and 1(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act, 2006, and money laundering, Contrary to Section 21(a) of the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The charge sheet alleged that Elusoji intentionally, knowingly, or reasonably ought to have known that the funds obtained from the victim formed part of the proceeds of an unlawful act.
Next Steps
With the bench warrant now active, security agencies are authorised to apprehend Elusoji to ensure his presence in court.
Justice Owoeye adjourned the matter to May 25, 2026, for the formal arraignment of the defendant.
