Dangote Cement Inks $1B Mega-Deal with Sinoma to Fuel Pan-African Expansion

LAGOS, Nigeria — Dangote Cement Plc (DCP) has solidified its position as the titan of African industry, signing a landmark $1 billion strategic agreement with Sinoma International Engineering

The deal, inked this weekend in Lagos, commissions the construction of 12 new projects and the massive expansion of existing facilities across the continent.

This investment serves as a primary engine for Dangote Group’s Vision 2030, an ambitious roadmap aimed at hitting a $100 billion revenue milestone.

Aliko Dangote, Founder and President of the Dangote Group, emphasised that this partnership is a critical enabler of the company's goal to reach a production capacity of 80 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) by 2030.

“These projects will strengthen our domestic market dominance, drive export activities, and optimise our existing operational assets,” Dangote stated during the ceremony.

The Strategic Framework Agreement isn't just about building new walls; it’s about a tech-forward modernisation of the African supply chain.

Key projects under the $1 billion umbrella include: A new integrated line in Northern Nigeria with satellite grinding units, plus major works in Itori, Apapa, Lekki, Port Harcourt, and Onne, New lines and expansions in Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, and Cameroon, Modernisation initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint of existing plants.

Group Managing Director Arvind Pathak stressed that the expansion is a direct response to Africa’s infrastructure deficit

By closing supply gaps, Dangote Cement aims to make the continent fully self-sufficient while simultaneously tackling unemployment through increased economic linkages.

To drive this massive growth, Dangote Cement has also recently expanded its Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements (GSPA) with NNPC subsidiaries.

This ensures a steady supply of energy and supports the company’s transition toward Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner fuel source for its logistics and production.
