LAGOS, NIGERIA — In a major move to bolster Africa’s industrial landscape, Dangote Industries Limited has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), China’s leading heavy machinery manufacturer.
The partnership is set to transform the continent’s infrastructure, mining, and energy sectors through a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability.
The agreement brings together two titans of industry: the Dangote Group, Africa’s most diversified conglomerate, and XCMG, a global powerhouse in construction and mining technology.
The collaboration targets several high-growth sectors, including petrochemicals, mining, agriculture, and building materials.
The partnership aligns with Aliko Dangote’s ambitious “Vision 2030” strategy, which aims to scale the group’s operations to a $100 billion valuation by the end of the decade.
By leveraging XCMG’s global manufacturing expertise, Dangote Group seeks to accelerate its regional market development and enhance its operational efficiency across its vast portfolio of ports, refineries, and cement plants.
Under the terms of the deal, XCMG will deploy specialised project teams to provide integrated equipment solutions.
This includes:
Dedicated service networks for Dangote’s open-pit mining and petrochemical projects, and facilitating technical exchange visits for Dangote personnel to XCMG’s high-tech manufacturing bases in China,
streamlined equipment supply chains to ensure rapid project delivery across Africa.
A standout feature of the alliance is the focus on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals.
As the world shifts toward a low-carbon economy, XCMG and Dangote expressed commitment to the joint development of new electric equipment and intelligent manufacturing solutions.
By integrating XCMG’s new energy technologies, Dangote Group intends to lower operational expenses while significantly reducing the carbon footprint of its heavy industrial projects, setting a new green benchmark for African manufacturing.
With over 300 dealers and 11 manufacturing bases worldwide, XCMG’s expansion into the African market through this partnership marks a significant milestone in China-Africa industrial cooperation.
The deal ensures that both entities grant each other preferential consideration in future projects, fostering a long-term ecosystem of mutual growth and technical excellence.
