Dangote Targets Fuel Price Violations, Asks Nigerians to Report MRS Stations

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has launched a dedicated nationwide hotline to enable Nigerians to report any MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

The initiative, according to the refinery, is part of efforts to ensure transparency, protect consumers and guarantee that recent reductions in fuel prices translate into real relief for motorists across the country.

The hotline, 0800 123 5264, is now active and available to consumers nationwide.

Dangote Refinery said the move follows its recent commencement of nationwide PMS sales at ₦739 per litre, a strategic intervention aimed at stabilising fuel prices and easing the financial pressure on Nigerians, particularly during the festive season.

In a statement on the development, the refinery reaffirmed its commitment to supplying affordable, high-quality fuel while safeguarding Nigeria’s broader economic interests.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid purchasing PMS at inflated prices when locally refined fuel is available at ₦739 per litre. Report any MRS station selling above this price by calling our hotline.

“Together, we can ensure that the benefits of this price reduction reach every consumer,” the statement read.

The refinery explained that the hotline would help monitor compliance across more than 2,000 MRS stations nationwide and discourage sharp practices capable of undermining the gains of local refining.

Dangote Refinery also assured Nigerians of a steady and sufficient supply, noting that it has a guaranteed daily output capacity of 50 million litres of PMS.

It warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to exploit the price reduction by creating artificial scarcity or manipulating supply.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable.

“We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” the statement added.

By refining petroleum products locally at scale, the refinery said it is helping Nigeria reduce dependence on fuel imports, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira and strengthen national energy security.

Consumers were again advised to resist buying fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, locally refined and high-quality alternatives are readily available, stressing that collective vigilance is key to sustaining fair pricing in the downstream sector.
