Zion Prayer Movement Debunks 'AI-Generated' Attack on Evangelist Ebuka Obi, Calls Video a 'Wicked Fabrication'

The Zion Prayer Movement Outreach (ZPMO) has refuted a widely circulated YouTube video that falsely claimed its Spiritual Director, Evangelist Ebuka Obi, was attacked by gunmen.

The alleged incident, which the video placed during a recent free hospital commissioning in Aguleri, Anambra State, has been described by the ministry as a blatant lie and a wicked fabrication.

In a statement issued in Lagos, Evangelist Obi's media adviser, Dan Aibangbe, clarified the events of the day, stating that the commissioning ceremony was a resounding and peaceful success.

He confirmed that Evangelist Obi and his entourage left the venue in Aguleri at approximately 4 p.m. and travelled safely to Owerri, Imo State, with no incidents reported, a stark contrast to the 8 p.m. attack detailed in the fake video.

Aibangbe called the AI-generated video a wicked fabrication with wild imaginations that could only serve to instil fear and deter attendees from the ministry's upcoming prayer crusade, which will mark the conclusion of its annual 100-day fasting marathon.

He praised the security teams who ensured the event was incident-free, noting that the presence of government officials, dignitaries, and a massive crowd left no room for the Hollywood-type attack portrayed in the video.

The media aide suggested the video could be a ploy by a blogger to attract traffic or the work of mischief-makers desperate to sow uncertainty among the faithful, especially those travelling from the diaspora for the crusade.

He warned that the enemy traditionally adopts fear and rumours as weapons of warfare, and urged the public to disregard the video and attend the upcoming event without hesitation.

Assuring worshippers of their safety, Aibangbe highlighted that Imo State, specifically Ngor Okpala, the crusade venue, is a secure environment.

He detailed that security arrangements for the event would be top-notch for safety, crowd control, and personal protection.

“As such, enemies of the Church spreading falsehoods are already defeated and will be put to shame by the power of God,” Aibangbe declared.

He concluded by urging the public to be vigilant, always verify information from credible sources, and refrain from sharing unverified content.

Aibangbe disclosed that YouTube has already flagged the video for appropriate sanctions, reinforcing the ministry's commitment to exposing and combating misinformation.
