In a landmark move marking his fourth coronation anniversary, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, has established the Iwere Trust Foundation (ITF) with a personal seed donation of ₦750 million.
The initiative is designed to be the primary engine for the socio-economic development of the Itsekiri nation.
Unveiling the foundation at his Aghofen Palace to a jubilant crowd of subjects and dignitaries, the monarch stressed that the responsibility for Itsekiri progress rests squarely on the shoulders of its people.
“It is only the Itsekiri people that can truly develop themselves and their ancestral homeland.
“I have sown my seed of commitment with ₦750 million, and I now call on every well-meaning Itsekiri across the world to join me in watering these seeds of collective development,” the Olu declared.
The announcement was met with thunderous applause and chants from the crowd, reflecting a moment of collective pride and renewed hope.
As Chairman of the new foundation, the Olu explained that the ITF will mobilise resources to execute transformative projects directly benefiting communities.
