Youth Party Unveils Digital-First Primary Guidelines Ahead of August Bye-Elections

Ahead of the August 16, 2025 bye-elections, the Youth Party has released its official guidelines and timetable for primary elections, introducing a transparent, inclusive, and technology-driven approach to candidate selection.

In a statement by its National Executive Committee (NEC), the party said the guidelines were developed in full compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and the regulations of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

To ensure fairness, the party will implement a One Member, One Vote (OMOV) system, eliminating the influence of delegates and superdelegates by allowing all registered members to vote directly.

According to the timetable, the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms began on July 7 and will close on July 17.

The party added that aspirants will be screened on July 18, with appeals scheduled for July 19.

Primaries will be held on July 20, and final appeals on July 21, the party stated.

To boost participation, the Youth Party slashed nomination fees by 50% for women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and youths aged 25 to 40.

The party’s primaries will be conducted electronically via online and SMS platforms, under the supervision of party agents and INEC officials to ensure transparency.

The NEC also pledged to make voter lists accessible to aspirants and urged Nigerians to join its anti-corruption movement at youthpartyng.com/join-movement.
