The Federal High Court (FHC) has announced the official launch of its e-filing platform in the Lagos Division, set to go live on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The move is a major step toward digitising court processes and enhancing judicial efficiency.
In a circular signed by Chief Registrar Sulaiman Amida Hassan, the court directed that manual filing of new cases will end on Friday, June 20, 2025.
However, ongoing cases filed before the go-live date will continue to be processed manually until their conclusion.
Hassan cautioned legal practitioners against under-declaring claims or misrepresenting documents in a way that leads to the under-assessment of filing fees.
Any such infraction will attract a penalty of ₦10,000 per filing, in addition to the outstanding amount owed, the circular stated.
According to the circular, “To access the new system, lawyers must obtain a Legal Mail account, which is now a mandatory requirement.
“Law firms are also expected to upload documents related to their Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration when creating their chambers' profiles on the platform.
“To ease the transition, the FHC will host a two-day interactive training session between June 16 and 20 to guide practitioners on using the platform effectively.”
The court urged all legal practitioners to ensure full compliance with the new procedures for a smooth transition to digital filing.
