Politicians, government bodies, and security operatives continue to show a disturbing lack of concern for the well-being of the people they serve.
How else can one describe a situation where clear warnings were given, yet willfully ignored?
A report by The PUNCH revealed that at least 45 people were confirmed dead in the Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Local leaders, however, claimed the real death toll could be over 200, including security officers and entire families burned alive.
In response to the relentless killings, residents of Benue State took to the streets yesterday in protest, voicing their anger at both the government and the security agencies over their failure to protect lives.
Shockingly, this tragedy could have been avoided, if only the governor and relevant authorities had heeded the warnings of Nigerian prophet, Primate Elijah Ayodele.
The cleric had issued a prophetic warning to the governor and residents of Benue, urging vigilance against attacks that would lead to significant loss of life.
He specifically mentioned some local government areas likely to be targeted, including Guma, where the recent massacre occurred.
This warning was documented in his annual prophecy book, Warnings to the Nations.
Here were his exact words: “The state will make sincere efforts towards development and improving the welfare of its people.
“The state must rebuke fire outbreaks and explosions. The government’s plans for the state will be troubled by some people, and there will be a gang-up against the governor’s efforts.
“I foresee attacks on farmers, as people will take the law into their own hands. Also, there will be attacks on military and police formations in the state.
“The government will introduce a new policy to address its various challenges but will also face political distractions.
“Farmers will face difficulties and must guard against unexpected flooding.
“Let the following local governments be careful of imminent attacks: Oju, Obi, Logo, Katsina-Ala, Guma, Apa, Ado, Agatu, Vandeikya, and Ohimini.
“These areas will experience serious issues and be endangered by terrorist attacks.
“The state government must take proactive measures to prevent this.”
After reading the above, it becomes clear that the prophecy, issued in July 2024, has already been partially fulfilled, while other parts remain at risk of manifesting if further warnings continue to be ignored.
In a country like Nigeria, blessed with an anointed voice like Primate Ayodele’s, such tragedies should not catch leaders off guard.
Unfortunately, the nation’s administrators appear deaf to divine warnings, thereby placing countless innocent lives in danger.
This is not the first time Primate Ayodele has accurately predicted violent incidents, particularly in matters of national insecurity.
It would be recalled that in 2024, during the spike in kidnappings across Abuja, Primate Ayodele had already warned that kidnapping would escalate to an alarming level in his 2024 prophecies, released in December 2023.
Security forces only began taking action after a wave of high-profile abductions had already occurred.
Similarly, the recent plane crash in India that claimed 241 lives was foretold by Primate Ayodele just three weeks before it happened.
In a viral video, the prophet warned of an impending crash involving a major international aircraft. Tragically, the prophecy came to pass.
It is high time Nigerian leaders abandoned the conventional, reactionary approach to governance and started paying attention to prophetic warnings from voices like Primate Ayodele.
At the very least, such foresight could help them prepare for danger and potentially save lives, rather than continuing to leave citizens vulnerable to preventable tragedies.
