President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for assembling what he described as a “formidable and professionally competent” leadership team at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
Speaking after a visit to President Tinubu, Dangote singled out the appointments of Mr Bashir Bayo Ojulari as Group Chief Executive Officer and Mr Ahmadu Musa Kida as Non-Executive Chairman as strategic moves toward reforming the country’s energy sector.
“The new management team brings a wealth of technical expertise and managerial experience crucial to revitalising Nigeria’s most strategic public enterprise.
“Their appointment reflects the President’s intent to drive reform and innovation across the energy sector,” Dangote said.
He added that the leadership is well-positioned to align with Tinubu’s broader vision of building a $1 trillion economy by driving transparency, efficiency, and accountability within the NNPC.
Addressing recent media inquiries about his ongoing battle with what he called “cabals” in the oil industry, Dangote clarified that his comments had no bearing on the new NNPC leadership.
“I want to make it clear that the cabals I referred to are certain major oil marketers and traders who are resisting reform and trying to frustrate the President’s efforts to revive the economy,” he said.
Dangote emphasised that the new management at NNPCL has so far been supportive, especially in facilitating the operations of his $20 billion refinery.
He praised the ongoing structural reforms within the NNPCL, describing them as “strong indicators” of a renewed focus on professionalism and operational excellence.
With optimism, Dangote reaffirmed his group’s commitment to working with the federal government to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape.
“We are confident that this team will propel the industry to greater heights and secure a more prosperous future for all Nigerians,” he concluded.
The Dangote Refinery, a flagship project for Nigeria’s industrial future, remains central to the country’s push for self-sufficiency in refined petroleum products.
