Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has commended the Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) for its ongoing philanthropic efforts in supporting vulnerable Nigerians.

The foundation’s National Food Intervention Programme, which aims to distribute a 10kg bag of rice to over one million Nigerians, has provided much-needed relief to 35,000 individuals in Adamawa State.

The distribution exercise was officially launched in Yola, the state capital, where Governor Fintiri, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Ibrahim Mijinyawa, expressed deep appreciation for the timely intervention.

“Adamawa State has received 35,000 bags of 10kg rice, which will be distributed across 21 LGAs as part of a humanitarian initiative by the Aliko Dangote Foundation,” Fintiri announced.

“This gesture will undoubtedly benefit many more people, particularly during this difficult period,” the governor added.

The governor reassured both the foundation and the people of Adamawa that the rice distribution would be conducted fairly and efficiently.

To ensure transparency and equitable sharing, the exercise includes the participation of local government chairmen and religious leaders.

“As you can see, the council chairmen are here to ensure an equitable distribution. We have included religious leaders to guarantee that the distribution reaches the intended beneficiaries and the right destinations,” he added.

Bello Danmusa, Group General Manager of Operations at Dangote Sugar Refinery, Numan, speaking on behalf of ADF, reaffirmed the foundation’s commitment to social responsibility.

He emphasised that the initiative aims to mitigate economic hardships and provide essential relief to disadvantaged individuals.

“We are here as part of the Aliko Dangote Foundation’s humanitarian initiative, presenting a total of 35,000 bags of rice to the Adamawa government to help mitigate the impact of economic hardship on the citizens, especially the vulnerable individuals in the state,” Danmusa stated.

In response, Gambo Jika, Chairman of the Adamawa Muslim Council, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting its significance, especially during the last ten days of Ramadan.

“We sincerely appreciate this gesture, which has come at the perfect time,” Jika said.

He also urged local government distribution committees to uphold the transparency demonstrated at the state level to ensure the aid reaches those most in need.
