The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) against appointing Prince Okumagba as the next President General of the Nigeria Supporters Club.
In a viral video, Primate Ayodele urged the authorities to allow a competitive selection process to ensure the best candidate emerges.
He warned that Okumagba’s leadership would cripple the supporters' club, undoing the progress made by previous administrations.
“I want to advise NFF and NSC not to use Okumagba. If they do, Nigeria Supporters Club will die,” he stated.
“I am not supporting anyone, but they should work with the best candidate—and that is not Okumagba,” the cleric added.
Furthermore, Primate Ayodele advised against sidelining the current President General, Rafiu Ladipo, recognizing his contributions to Nigerian football.
He suggested that Ladipo should be elevated to Chairman of the club’s Board of Trustees (BoT) rather than being completely replaced.
“Don’t relegate Ladipo. You can appoint a new President General, but he should be the head of BoT because he has suffered for Nigeria’s football,” Ayodele concluded.
