Ogun AMORAN Chairman, Sokoya, Dragged to EFCC for Alleged N30m Fraud

The Chairman of the Ogun State Amalgamated Motorcycles and Riders Association (AMORAN), Chief Taofiq Sokoya, popularly known as Danku, has been dragged before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N30 million fraud.

Sokoya was petitioned by his former principal, Chief Nurudeen Aina (Alowonle), who accused him of misappropriating proceeds from a real estate transaction.

The allegations were detailed in a letter dated February 3, 2025, written by Aina’s lawyer, Bamidele Ogundele, and addressed to the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun.

According to the letter, Aina entrusted Sokoya with selling his property, a duplex and two self-contained flats located at GRA Quarters, Ewuga Street, Sagamu, for N40 million.

In the letter, on July 14, 2024, Sokoya allegedly sold the property but only remitted N10 million, while diverting N30 million for personal use.

Further allegations, as contained in the letter, which was also copied to the Abuja office of the EFCC and the Lagos office of the SFU, claimed that Sokoya purchased a vehicle using part of the missing funds and later resold the property for N45 million to one Segun Soyebi (Oscar) without refunding Aina.

The case, the letter stated, was reported to the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) and the EFCC, but Sokoya allegedly boasted about his strong political connections.

Ogundele called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.

“Our client has absolute confidence in your transparency and zero tolerance for criminality and brigandage,” the petition read.

As of the time of filing this report, the response gotten through a WhatsApp line 08089193695 were courses unleashed on our correspondent rather than tell Chief Taofiq Sokoya’s side of the story.
