CBN Probe: Emefiele under fire, suspended

The immediate suspension of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele from office, was on Friday, June 9, 2023, directed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This development was made public by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Willie Bassey, through a statement made available to the media.

According to Bassey, the suspension of the CBN governor was based on an ongoing investigation as well as planned reforms in the financial sector.

It was also learnt that the troubled Emefiele has since been arrested by the DSS
