Olubadan to confer honorary title on chief Ayorinde, SAN

In commemoration of his first year on the throne, his Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Senator Mohood Ishola Lekan Balogun Ali, Okumade II, Olubadan of Ibadan, will confer an honorary title on legal icon and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde.

The SAN will be conferred with the title of 'Agba Ofin' of Ibadanland.

According to a statement dated February 21, 2023, addressed to Chief Ayorinde, and signed by the Secretary to the Olubadan, Mr K Liasu, tagged, 'Honorary Chieftaincy Title of Agba Ofin of Ibadanland', “I have the directive of His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr) Senator Mohood Ishola Lekan Balogun Ali, Okumade II, Olubadan of Ibadanland, to inform you that on the occasion celebrating his One (1) year on the throne of his forefathers, has decided to honor you with the highly prestigious Honorary Chieftaincy title of Agba Ofin of Ibadanland".

Meanwhile, a renowned member of the Olubadan in Council, High Chief Biodun Kola Daisi, has hailed the conferment of the chieftaincy title of Agba Ofin on Chief Ayorinde.

He described Ayorinde as a distinguished son of Ibadanland, noting that the honor is well-deserved.

Chief Daisi who is the Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadan land, said: “It is a confirmation of his philanthropic gestures and excellent human relations for which he has been known over the years”.

Ayorinde (SAN) was a former Pro-Chancellor, Chairman Governing Council, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, between 2007 and 2011.

He was also a member of the Presidential Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM) during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan and a Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Chairman, Aviation & Transport Committee, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.

He was also the Chairman of the Oyo State Committee on the Decongestion of Prisons.

In June 2012, he was appointed Chairman of the Governing Board of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria by the President. Ayorinde was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2014.

Ayorinde who is Chairman, Board of Partners, BA LAW, a private fully fledged cross border law firm, is a member of the Oyo State Governor's Advisory Council and has held the honorary role of Special Counsel to the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde since 2019.
