PDP Says It Will Protest Against Tinubu's Declaration As President-Elect

There will be a protest match against the outcome of the February 25 presidential election which saw Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, being declared as the president-elect.

The intention to embark on the protest was made known today by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, through a statement issued by its Director of Admin, Ambassador Ibrahim Bashir, on behalf of the Director General, DG, of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCO), wherein it added that its leaders, governors, and members should assemble at Legacy House, the presidential campaign office for a march to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

It would be recalled that INEC had last Wednesday declared Tinubu the winner of the election.

The presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, who came second in the poll, while speaking at a press conference last Thursday, insisted that he would challenge the result of the election in court.

Even, seven governors of the opposition party who had earlier approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria for review of the result, in a dramatic move, suddenly withdrew the case.

The take-off time for the protest is 10 am, according to the statement.
