IPOB: Kanu Institutes N100bn Suit Against FGN Over Continued Detention

A N100 billion fundamental rights enforcement suit has been initiated against the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) over his continued detention by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The action was filed by the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

According to the suit filed before the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Kanu is among others praying to the court for his immediate release from the facility of the DSS and payment of N100 billion reparation for the violation of his rights to liberty and dignity of the human person.

Kanu insisted that the suit designated FHC/ABJ/CS/1945/2022, dated October 21, and filed by his lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), became imperative sequel to the continued failure of the FGN to obey the judgment of the Court of Appeal, delivered on October 13, which discharged him of the terrorism charge brought against him.
