Missing Bulletproof Car: Make Findings Of Disciplinary Committee Public, Lagos CJ Told

A call has been extended to the Chief Judge (CJ) of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, to make findings of the Disciplinary Committee set up to look into the circumstances that led to the disappearance of a bulletproof car kept in the custody of the Lagos State judiciary, public.

The call came from a school Proprietress, Princess Bola Jegede, whose bulletproof car got missing in the custody of the Lagos State judiciary.

Princess Jegede’s request is contained in a letter signed by her counsel, Dr Yemi Omodele, and addressed to the CJ after ten months of her petition to seek justice.

In the letter captioned ‘Outcome of Disciplinary Committee Meeting of the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission Held on 20/12/2021 not known’, Princess Jegede, insisted that she was yet to get justice and feedback from the panel of inquiry.

According to Dr Omodele, “Letters had been written on behalf of our client to your office in respect of Suit No. MIK/1219/2011 (Mr Lati Gomes & 20rs vs. Princess Bola Jegede) that a Nissan Maxima (3.5SE) car with registration number BQ775AGL attached to the court after execution could not be found, which said development prompted the Commission to set up a disciplinary committee which met on 20/12/2021.

“We were invited to the meeting vide a letter dated 15/12/2021 and our client was present. My Lord, for over eight months since the committee had met, our client is yet to hear any response from the Commission concerning the missing car, hence this letter.

“Our client hereby requests the position of the Commission about her missing car without further delay.”

It would be recalled that the Disciplinary Committee was set up to unravel the mystery surrounding how the Nissan Maxima (3.5SE) with registration No BQ 775 AGL retrieved from the judgment debtor in suit No. MIK/22/19/11, between Lati Gomes and Princess Bola Jegede, got missing.

The Committee was inaugurated consequent upon a petition written by Princess Jegede, the Proprietress of A-Z International College.

Mrs Julie Abieyuwa Anabor, who was the Head of Deputy Sheriff Section, Lagos, and now a judge of the Code of Conduct Tribunal on March 28, 2013, executed the judgment against the judgment debtor pursuant to the judgment delivered on June 28, 2012.

Specifically, executing the judgment, Justice Anabor impounded two Toyota Hummer school buses and a bulletproof Nissan Maxima.

But the Princess Jegede, in a series of letters written to the incumbent CJ, posited that the parties had since settled their differences, as the judgment creditor and debtor have compromised their position.

The judgment debtors had then prayed the Deputy Registrar to release the properties as stated in the attached copy of the inventory and release the same to the rightful owner in compliance with the order of the court.

Chief Magistrate F. A. Azeez had in a suit delivered judgment over the rent of a property between the Trustees of the Estate of Justice T. S Gomes and Princess Bola Jegede wherein the court ordered the defendant to pay the sum of N9m as arrears of rent from January 2005 to 2008 and January 2009 to 2010.

But the defendant could not pay the debt, which led to the execution of the judgment before both parties were able to settle their rift.

The then Deputy Sheriff, had released the two school buses with Registration No UF 129 KJA and UF 128 KJA, but had failed to release the Nissan Maxima (3.5SE) with Registration No BQ775 AGL.
