The former presidential candidate of the National Republican Convention, NRC, Bashir Tofa, in the 1993 election, is dead.
It was learnt that the kano State born-politician passed on after a brief illness in the early hours of Monday at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
Born on June 20, 1947, Tofa contested in the 1993 presidential election against Chief MKO Abiola of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, who was the presumed winner of the election.
But the said election was nullified by the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.
