Three Akala boys remanded over alleged dealing in 803kg of Marijuana

The remand of three Akala Boys’ over allegation of unlawful dealing in 803 Kilograms Cannabis Sativa, otherwise called Marijuana, was today ordered by Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of a Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The judge decided after they were arraigned by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

The defendants are Jelili Kamoru, 44; Sodiq Oduola and Adebayo Seun, who was arraigned on a separate charge.

It is recalled that Akala street in Mushin Local Government Area, LGA, of the state is notoriously known for dealing in hard drugs.

According to the prosecutor, Jerry Aerna, the defendants allegedly dealt in 802.5 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa.

While arraigning the ‘Akala Boys’, Aernan told the court that both Jelili Kamoru, 44; Sodiq Oduola, 25 and Adebayo Seun, 21, alongside others now at Large, had on October 15, 2021, at AkalaMushin LGA of Lagos State, conspired among themselves and unlawfully dealt in 803 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, popularly called Indian Hemp.

The offenses according to the prosecutor are contrary to and punishable under Section 11(c) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

But the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and were subsequently remanded in the custody of the Ikoyi Correctional Service pending the determination of their bail applications.
