We received a letter from Banwo & Ighodalo, Solicitors to Premier Specialists’ Medical Centre (Premier Hospital) concerning two publications we made on our social media platforms in relation to the outcome of the investigation of the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigating Panel on the death of Adepoju Ugboma, who died on Sunday 25 April 2021, after a surgery at the Premier Hospital.
OAL agrees with Banwo & Ighodalo that the statement in our first publication that “Medical and Dental Practitioner’s Council finds Premier Hospital and Doctors medically negligent for death of celebrity chef” is incorrect. We noticed the error and immediately took the publication down from our social media platform. We hereby retract and apologize for the said publication.
The second publication was actually a correction of the first. We however apologize for the reference to Premier Hospital in the said second publication, given that the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigating Panel only found a prima facie case of misconduct in a professional respect against three doctors (Dr. Akiseku Adeniyi Kazeem, Dr. Kelechi Kingsley Renner and Dr. Motunrayo Amadi) and not against Premier Hospital itself. We hereby also retract the said second publication, which was not borne out of malice. We assure Premier Hospital that the error was inadvertent.
For avoidance of doubt the letter from the Medical and Dental Practitioners Investigating Panel, informing our client of the outcome of the investigation is attached.
