Primate Ayodele's Prophecies: A Closer Look

In the ever-evolving world of faith and public scrutiny, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, is a name that consistently sparks both admiration and controversy.

Renowned for his prolific prophetic declarations, many of which have captured national and international attention, Primate Ayodele remains a significant voice in spiritual direction.

However, like many prophetic figures before him, his ministry has not escaped criticism, particularly from those who claim certain prophecies have not been fulfilled.

As a journalist who has closely monitored his ministry over the years, it’s important to offer a balanced perspective and respond to these criticisms, not in defence of a man, but of truth and context.

Critics often isolate a handful of “unfulfilled” prophecies without understanding their conditional nature, leading to judgments that lack spiritual insight and intellectual fairness.

Primate Ayodele remains unbothered by public criticism and negative commentary, staying rooted in his divine assignment.

Rather than seeking public approval, he continues to deliver prophetic messages with boldness and clarity.

His focus is not on popularity, but on fulfilling his spiritual responsibility. He remains steadfast, knowing that a prophet's calling is not to please men, but to speak the truth as revealed by God.

Clarifying Misinterpreted Prophecies

Much of the criticism directed at Primate Ayodele stems from a misunderstanding or deliberate misinterpretation of his statements.

Let's look at some specific examples:

The 2015 INEC Chairman's Prophecy

One such example is the claim that Primate Ayodele's prophecy about former INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, failed.

Primate Ayodele had stated, “Jega will disappoint Nigerians. He does not have a solution to election rigging in Nigeria.”

Following the 2015 general elections, widespread irregularities, including underage voting, ballot box snatching, and result manipulation, confirmed his warning.

The election, which many hoped would be a clean break from Nigeria’s electoral failures, became one of the most controversial in recent history, with citizens expressing outrage and disappointment.

The prophecy was not that the election would be perfect, but that Jega would ultimately disappoint due to the deep-seated issues he could not overcome.

The “Corruption Will Fight Back” Prophecy

There were also claims that Primate Ayodele failed in his prophecy that corruption would fight back under President Muhammadu Buhari's government.

His exact words were, “Corruption would fight back under President Muhammadu Buhari.”

Events during and after Buhari’s tenure clearly validated this prophecy. In 2021, the EFCC exposed how several government ministries and agencies had padded the national budget with inflated figures, yet few were held accountable.

The anti-corruption campaign became compromised as powerful figures manipulated the very institutions meant to ensure transparency.

After Buhari left office, the scale of corruption within his government became even more evident.

Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele was arrested and is still facing multiple corruption charges, while others like ex-Attorney General Abubakar Malami and former ministers Hadi Sirika and Sadiya Umar Farouq were all linked to serious financial scandals.

These developments confirm that corruption not only resisted Buhari’s efforts but thrived.

Critics who doubted the prophecy failed to grasp its depth, focusing on political rhetoric instead of the unfolding realities.

The Goodluck Jonathan Presidency Prophecy

Another widely cited criticism is that Primate Ayodele prophesied that former President Goodluck Jonathan would remain in power until 2019.

However, a closer look at his January 18, 2015, interview reveals a different message.

Primate Ayodele clearly stated that Jonathan would be the last PDP president and that he foresaw a new government coming.

His words were: “Jonathan will be the last PDP president. I see a new government coming up in this country.

“If Jonathan eventually wins in 2015, the PDP will not have it in 2019. The party will break.”

He never claimed Jonathan would win; instead, he issued a conditional warning: if Jonathan did win, the PDP would be doomed by 2019.

His words were more of a spiritual political analysis than a partisan endorsement, and history has since validated his foresight, as the party is now plagued with internal fractures.

Final Thoughts for Critics

Critics who isolate segments of his statements without acknowledging the full context are being disingenuous and ignoring the broader accuracy of his revelations.

My humble advice to those who criticise without proper research or understanding of prophetic language is to do better.

Be responsible in your critique. Instead of scoffing from the sidelines, engage with the message.

Understand the symbolisms and study the patterns. Or better still, offer your own spiritual contribution to the nation and the world.

It’s far easier to mock a man on the frontline than to stand in his shoes.

Finally, critics should ask themselves: What do I gain by discrediting someone who is actively warning, guiding, and serving?

If Primate Ayodele’s prophecies bring attention to avoidable disasters and stir action that prevents loss, is that not a win for humanity?
