Lagos LCDA Chairman, Ejigbadero, Sued Over Land Dispute

Alhaji Abiodun Jimoh Ishola (Ejigbadero), Chairman of the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos, is the eighth respondent in the suit.

•As Court Issues Injunction

A fresh legal challenge has emerged against Alhaji Abiodun Jimoh Ishola, the newly inaugurated Chairman of the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), as a Federal High Court in Lagos has issued an order of Status Quo Ante Bellum in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed against him and seven others.

The suit, marked FHC/L/CS/1146/2025, was brought by an applicant identified as A. Odumosu.

Justice Deinde Dipeolu made the order after hearing a motion ex parte filed and argued by the applicant's lawyer, Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN).

The court granted all the reliefs sought in the motion, with the primary order being to “maintain status quo and stay all actions pending the determination of the substantive suit.”

Alhaji Abiodun Jimoh Ishola, popularly known as Ejigbadero, is listed as the eighth respondent in the suit.

The other respondents include the Police Service Commission (PSC), the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Force Criminal Investigation Department (Force CID) Annexe Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos State, along with several police officers and two other individuals, Mr Akande Adeolu Olukayode and Mr Samuel Obafemi Adebowale.

The applicant's case is brought under the Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules 2009, and other relevant sections of the Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.

In the substantive suit, the applicant is seeking a declaration that any further attempt to arrest and detain him, following a previous arrest on May 20, 2025, is a violation of his fundamental human rights.

The applicant claims this attempted arrest was instigated by the 5th, 6th, and 7th respondents over a land dispute.

The property in question, according to the suit, belongs to the applicant but was allegedly sold to the respondents by one Mr Oluseyi Jeremiah Olagoke Adebayo, who is alleged to be currently in prison in the United States (U.S).

The suit also highlights the pendency of a separate criminal case, Charge No. MIK/X/27/2025- COP V. Akande Adeolu Olukayode, at the Magistrate Court of Lagos State, Ogba Magisterial District, further complicating the matter.

The respondents have not yet filed their responses to the suit.

Consequently, Justice Dipeolu adjourned for the hearing of the substantive suit, which is now scheduled for October 22, 2025.
