Iran Launches Major Missile Barrage on Israel in an Escalating Regional Conflict

In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Iran has confirmed it launched a massive ballistic missile attack on Israel, targeting what it called “dozens of military centres and airbases” across the country.

The assault, dubbed “Operation True Promise 3” by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), marks one of the most direct and large-scale confrontations between the two regional adversaries in recent years.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reported multiple rocket barrages lighting up the skies over central Israel, including Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv metropolitan area.

Explosions and air raid sirens prompted widespread panic, with residents ordered to take shelter.

According to BBC reports, the barrage caused significant disruption.

Israel’s national ambulance service, Magen David Adom, confirmed that at least five people were injured in the Tel Aviv area, one moderately and four lightly, primarily due to shrapnel.

Emergency teams responded to seven reported impact sites in the Dan Bloc region.

While the IRGC has not yet disclosed the full extent of the damage, it has promised further briefings.

Iranian state media also claimed two Israeli fighter jets were shot down over Iranian airspace, though this assertion remains unverified.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, earlier issued a stark warning, vowing to “inflict heavy blows” in retaliation for what Iran views as Israeli aggression and provocation.

The Israeli military has acknowledged the continued attacks, saying its air defence systems are actively engaging incoming missiles.

“The shooting continues. Another barrage of dozens of rockets was launched toward Israel,” the IDF stated.

Reuters images showed bright flashes across Jerusalem’s night sky, with residents describing the chaos as reminiscent of full-scale warfare.

As hostilities intensify, fears are growing that the violence could spiral into a broader regional conflict.

International observers are urgently calling for diplomatic intervention to prevent further escalation.
