Malawi's Vice President, Others, Dies In Plane Crash

The Vice President of Malawi, Saulos Chilima, is dead.

He died in a military plane crash alongside nine others when the aircraft crashed into a forest.

According to the country's President, Lazarus Chakwera, in a televised address, “The plane has been found, and I am deeply saddened and sorry to inform you all, it has turned out to be a tragedy.”

Malawian searchers found the wreckage of the plane that was carrying Chilima on Tuesday, a day after the aircraft went missing in bad weather.

The military aircraft conveying Chilima, 51, and nine others disappeared on Monday after it failed to land in the northern city of Mzuzu due to poor visibility and was told to return to the capital, Lilongwe.
